- Jim reviewed the purpose of the community council. He also presented a review and the status of the trustland budget. He reviewed the overall academic goals for all students with Aspire scores and ACT scores.
- Jim gave an overall summary of some of the activities planned for homecoming and how the different sports teams and the band are doing this Fall.
- There will be a mandatory School Community Council training on October 8th from 6 to 7 pm.

- Review of School Community Council Procedures and Follow-Up: Jim
- Jim reviewed the procedures for community council. The training that was held for all community council members will be posted online for those that missed. Jim asked if there were any questions about the School Community Council and its purpose. The Rules of Order and Procedure will also be on the website if someone needs to review.
- Review/Status of 2024-2025 Trustland Budget: Jim
- When the Trustland budget was being submitted, there was a minor change made to the allocation for the two new FTE’s. The money was taken from the Solution Tree Conference to cover the extra needed in the budget for the FTE’s of $190, 000.
- Safety of the School Information: Jim
- Jim explained the goal of not making “lockdowns” a part of school culture. Instead, the administration focuses on training teachers, staying vigilant, and paying attention to doors that are not always used that can be locked.
- Update on school activities: Jim
- Jim reviewed the CTE program overseen by Wyatt McDaniel. Teri Rhodes from the school district also talked about the CAPS program for students, with the goal to start next Fall. It will give the opportunity for students to participate in projects with community business owners. If anyone has questions about CTE, contact Wyatt.
- The GCHS sports teams and band are doing really well this year so far.
- We are also no longer in TSI.

- Jim Crosbie talked about how good our attendance is: daily average of 96%.
- Review/Statues of 2024-25 Trustland Budget
- Most of the trustland money is going to teachers to lighten class loads and help out with needs in classrooms. As of January 2025, we have only spent 76% of our budget, and we are on track with what we have projected.
- There is a possibility to hire a Dean of Students for next year. The admin of GC does not see the need as of yet, but it is an option. The overall admin feeling is to spend money on the kids directly. Jim said every school situation is unique. Extra money is prioritized to add teachers and paraprofessionals so that class sizes are smaller.
- State legislature has passed a bill to remove fees from schools. There may be some amendments as of yet. (Curricular fees, athletic fees, music fees).
- What is Happening at the School
- Parent Teacher Conferences are today. It is the halfway point of the school year.
- PCCRs start today. Deedra talked about the Welcome to GC night on St. Patrick’s Day.
- You can stack Bridgerland and USU credits now. Wyatt said that someone will come into the WolfPack classes and help the kids know what they can do with the USU/Bridge credits as well.
- Pack Picks was last week. The counselors work to help kids see the programs that are available here at GC. They come to the gym and see what classes are available.
- Safety of the School Information
- Gordon Geddes will attend the USSAP convention. He will attend a school safety presentation at one of the breakout sessions.
- Update on School Activities
- All the programs are doing well. Boys Basketball is no. 1 team in the state now; 14-1.
- Reviewed girls basketball, wrestling, swimming, choir, and drama.
- Wyatt talked about the aspiring educators program.

- Reported on the GC Talent Show and how successful it was.

- District Office Visit, David Swenson - "Portrait of a Graduate"
- Dave Swenson spoke to review the district’s strategic plan for Portrait of a Graduate
- He explained the three main areas of focus for life readiness as an end goal: Knowledge, Skills, and Dispositions
- Dave and team want the Community Councils input for what skills graduates should have for each of these areas
- CCSDUT Priorities want to align with these three things. The committee is taking this to every high school community council to help put together a vision. They want some general ideas as a district so each high school can apply this vision to their school.

- Deidra moved to approve January’s minutes. Emily seconded it. This passed unanimously.
- Amy gave an update on Trustlands and TSSA budgets. We should be at 10% in trustlands by next month and TSSA will get there.
- Amy then shared the rough draft for the Trustlands plan for the 2025-26 school year. The first goal will be to increase school wide Acadience reading assessment scores by 2% from the fall to the spring.
- The second goal will be to motivate/recognize individual students through our reading incentive program. Part of this funding goes towards our one-book-one school reading.
- The council agreed that the goals look good. Emily made a motion to approve the plan. Deidra seconded the motion. This passed unanimously.
- Deidra moved to adjourn the meeting. This passed unanimously.

Minutes/Welcome-Ruth Seedall move approve the minutes, Matt Fuller seconded it
Review and Vote of Trustlands budget:
● Ultimate goal: to show improvement of ACT scores from GC students, ELL Students, and students with disabilities. Also to show an Increase in composite school scores from 21.5 to 21.7. and increase overall Aspire scores.
- Measurement will be based on comparing the data.
- We reviewed the action plan, steps and expenditures. The plan can be viewed online on the GC website.
- We went over our schools overall scores from the years past, and Green Canyon has some of the best scores in the state.
- Shannon Walker moved to approve the Trusland plan, Ruthie Hamill seconded it

What is happening at the school
- College and Career Readiness is funded through a state grant, the school is trying to keep the position
- Wyatt McDaniel reported that the Pathway program is set up for CTE. There will be a CTE recognition night before graduation.

- Any new Community Council Members Meeting was adjourned at 7:55
